The federal lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor constituency in the House of Representative, Hon. Kingsley Chinda has called on politicians not to make promises they cannot fulfil.
Chinda stated this while commissioning some projects initiative and completed by Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martins Amaewhule and handed over to the people.
He urged other public office holders to emulate the state lawmaker by making promises they can keep and ensure that they give back to their people and constituents.
According to Chinda, “What we are witnessing here today is a clear sign of seriousness in public governance and service. Only serious minded persons should offer themselves for public service.
“And that we must always mean whatever we say when we go on an electioneering campaign. You don’t make promises because you want the votes of the people. But you make promises because there is the will to accomplish them.
“I am happy and I call on all other public service holders, be it in the executive arm or in the legislature to borrow a leaf from what has happened today to ensure that our people get the dividends of democracy.
“Also by ensuring that projects are not only completed, but that they are quality projects and they are delivered on time,” he stated.
Earlier, Amaewhule who represents Obio/Akpor Constituency 1 in the State Legislature had advised youths in his constituency to maintain the existing peace in the area.
