Keves Football Championship Kicks Off, ’Morrow
The maiden edition of
the Keves Football Championship will kick off tomorrow at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The tournament which is organised by the Rivers State Football Association (RSFA) is aimed at promoting and developing grassroots football in the state.
According to the Head coach of Ambassador Soccer Academy (ASA) of Port Harcourt, Tamunoemi West, his team is fully prepared for the competition.
West stated this in a telophone interview with Tidesports yesterday, saying that they are training very hard to ensure they came out victorious from the group stage of the tournament.
“ We are training very hard to emerge victorious in the competition because it is the first time of such a tournament in the state” West explained.
He revealed that, they are playing Vikaboss FC on Sunday adding that his players are in high spirit and determined to make a statement in the tournament.
“We are playing the team for the first time. We do not underrate any team” he said.
He commended the RSFA for organising the competition, saying that it is an opportunity for the grassroots players to excel.
Meanwhile, teams were divided into eight groups, four teams in each group, sixteen teams will qualify from the group stage.
