Institute Canvasses Policies To Improve Society
The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) Chartered, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni in Rivers State has called on leaders at all levels in the country to put in place policies that will improve the condition of the citizenry.
Chairman of the chapter, Dr Jude Nwoka said this in Port Harcourt during the institute’s 2019 conferment of Achievers Award/Gala Nite, said the ceremony is organized to recognize and motive excellence and integrity among distinguished Nigerians who have impacted positively toward the economic growth of the nation, adding that the only way for the institute to appreciate them is to honour them with awards.
According to Dr Nwoka, the event would also provide a platform to interact and address burning management issues that are considered of national importance with a view to making recommendations.
One of such issues she said is corporate governance and leadership in both public and private sector of the Nigerian economy.
The event, which has as its theme, “Ethical Consideration in public organisation: A bedrock for organizational success”, featured Chief Isaac Zeb Obipi as guest speaker.
In his speech, Chief Obipi noted that no nation can develop or succeed without good leader and strong institution that are guided by ethical standard in order to achieve their goals.
Earlier, Chairman of the occasion and former Prsident, Port Harcourt Chamber of Commence, Hon Emi Membere Otaji said times all sectors of the economy are going through turbulent times because of the current financial meltdown, security issues and terrorism, noting that most organsations are passing through hard times.
He advised corporate organisations, both private and public sector to be steadfast in order to survive the present situation.
