Bank Holds Zonal Sports Competition In PH
Wemalympics, a one day regional sports activities organised by Wema Bank ended at the weekend, at Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The event which featured football, table tennis, tug of war, chess and volleyball saw most staff of the bank participated.
Speaking at the event the South South Regional Manager of the bank, Emmanuel Edah said the purpose of the sports activities is to foster peace and unity in the organisation.
Edah said this while speaking to sports journalists at this year’s Wemalympics games at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
“ Sporting activities is very important to life because it makes you fit for daily activities. To keep life fit you must involve in some form of sporting activities” Edah said.
According to him, the Wamalympics is one event that bring different zone of the organisation together in term of sporting activities.
“Programme like this bring people together to know each other and is easy to collaborate. We are growing bigger we need to know each other” he stated.
He further revealed that the programme has been going on for the past three years.
Also speaking the branch Business Development Manager, Okore Kanayo said that the activities is about keeping fit and as well moved the bank forward.
“ It is healthy when every staff of the organisation come together doing sports” Kanayo said.
The event was attended by senior managers of the bank.
