Sports Council Promises To Assist Tennis Foundation
Rivers State Sports Council has pledged to support Kodian Tennis Foundation (KTF) in all ramifications, in its subsequent editions of free tennis clinic.
The director of sports in the State, Mildred Hart, stated this on Saturday, at the closing ceremony of this years’ free tennis clinic, held at Port Harcourt Club, Old GRA, in Port Harcourt.
Hart, who was represented by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the council, Christopher Chioma, said the council was impressed with the achievements made by KTF.
According to her, in the tennis event, at the forthcoming National Youth Games (NYG), most of the players would be selected from KTF to represent the state. The NYG is scheduled to commence first week of next month, in Ilorin, Kwara State.
“The State sports council is impressed with the achievements of KTF. We are to provide manpower and other logistics we can afford in subsequent editions,” Hart said.
The director of sports further commended the Chairman board of directors, Chief Ikenna Okafor and the Coordinator of KTF, Stella Epegu, for their efforts in developing tennis.
Earlier the Coordinator of KTF, Stella Epegu, said the foundation has discovered and groomed tennis players to stardom, adding that her players has represented the state and country in various competitions.
She revealed that the foundation was formed in 2007 and officially registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2012, since then they have not ceased to organise training programmes free of charge.
“In KTF we do training programmes free. Our mission is to ensure that we produce players that can represent the state and Nigeria in any competition” Epegu said.
She used the forum to thank all those that have contributed towards the success of the foundation.
