Rep Charges Security Agencies On Killings In Ogoni
A member of the House of Representatives, Dumnamene Dekor has called on the police and other security agencies to unmask the gunmen who layed siege on Ogoni communities, Rivers State, killing scores.
Dekor, who represents Khana/Gokana Constituency at the House of Representatives promised to work with the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are apprehended and brought to book.
Recall that gunmen suspected to be cultists had invaded Okwale, Taabaa and Yokuru communities, all in Khana Local Government Area killing no fewer than ten persons and destroyed property worth millions of Naira.
Dekor made the call when he visited the affected communities and some injured persons, including policemen in the hospital where they were being treated.
The federal lawmaker stated, “I understand in Okwale, there are about five persons, four corpses have been recovered; one person was taken alive. In Taabaa, five persons killed, several cars burnt, houses destroyed and it is quite sad.”
He thanked the security operatives for the swift way they acted to prevent further loss of lives and property just as he called on them to step up security in the area in view of recent upsurge in violence there.
“I want to call on them (security agencies) to improve on the security in Khana Local Government Area especially.
“For those who have carried out this dastardly act, everything is being done to unmask them and bring them to book,” the lawmaker in the lower chamber of the federal legislature stated.
