Mauythai Federation Congratulates New Sports Minister
The Muaythai Federation of Nigeria (MFN) has congratulated the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare.
While congratulating him, they appealed to the minister to reactivate effective sporting activities in the country, which would engage youths meaningfully to reduce social vices.
This was contained in a statement signed by the President of MFN, Comrade Paul Egonu, which was made available to Tidesports, yesterday.
The statement further said that they have no doubt that he would take sports to an enviable height in Nigeria, following his administrative skills being demonstrated.
MFN, further urged the minister to introduce new sports like Mauythai at the forthcoming National Youth Games (NYG) and National Sports Festival (NSF) as it will also accommodate more youths in sports.
“MFN has no fear that you will develop sports from grassroots. We also believed that you will sponsor international competitions and tournaments to encourage athletes.
“Reintroduction of school sports will further assist to bring back the spirit of sports in Nigeria.
“We also appeal to you to introduce new sports, most especially Mauythai, in various competitions, to enable sports grow in Nigeria.
“Mauythai is currently being practised in almost 26 states and it was demonstrated in 2017 NYG”, Comrade Egonu said.
The statement further called on the new minister to organise a sports submit where stakeholders would come and proffer solutions to revive sports in the country.
