LG Boss Harps On Security, Launches Operation DELGA Sting

The Chairman, Degema local Government Council,Hon Tony Philmoore, has said that his administration would continue to beef up security in the LGA to secure lives and property with a view to improving community living and enhanced economic activities in the area.
The chairman stated this during the launching of Operation Degema Sting Wednesday at Degema Consulate, Head Quarters of the LGA.
He expressed the need for his government to domicile the Operation Sting recently launched in the state by Governor Nyesom Wike in DELGA,adding that the Operation DELGA Sting is not launched to kill our people, but to discourage them from all forms of criminalities.
Hon Philmoore called on parents and guardians to warn their wards to shun acts that could stir actions of security agents who according to him have been mandated to give hot chase to criminals where ever they may be hiding.
Unveiling/launching the Gunboat and Patrol vehicle he has provided for the security agents to step up their game,Tony Philmoore also disclosed his administration’s preparedness to pay for skills acqisition training as an alternative means of stemming insecurity. He also stated that names of beneficiaries of the free education programme for tertiary institutions would be made public as from Thursday next week.
Speaking further, the council boss revealed that a special squad nay community police had been trained and profiled by the police to fight insecurity in the area and appealed to criminals to change from bad to good as there would be no hiding place for them.
Philmoore also expressed the hope that the patrol vehicle provided for the security operations would end armed robbery and kidnapping along the Kalabari-Emouha road.
In his own speech,Assistant Commissioner of Police,John Mark noted that DELGA has a terrain that makes it difficult to fight crime, but promised his men’s readiness to curb insecurity in the area.
He called on parents to caution their children against criminality, saying enough is enough of these nonsense.
Thanking the DELGA boss for the provision of the gunboat and patrol vehicle,ACP John Mark call on sister LGAs of Asalga,Akulga and Abua/Odual which are under his watch to emulate the DELGA chairman if the want optimum performance of security operatives.
He also called on the people of the area to cooperate with the security agents, insisting that civilian community is being trained and supervised to complement the efforts of the force.
