Renowned labour leader and Zonal Secretary of Rivers State Traders Association (RSTA), Comrade Emeka John – Africa, has appealed to the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately tackle the worrisome spate of organised crimes across Nigeria.
Speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt during an interview on the state of the nation John – Africa, expressed worries over the gruesome activities of herdsmen and militants in parts of the country, and called for prayers for the nation to surmount the various challenges posed by insecurity.
He noted that the army was set up to defend the nation against external aggressions, but regretted that it was now frequently saddled with contending with internal insecurity.
He admonished Nigerian leaders to listen to the yearnings of the people as well as develop the capacity to accommodate constructive criticisms; though, consoled with the army over the loss of soldiers due largely to insurgency in the North-East of the country.
The labour leader, however, said that their deaths though could be regarded as occupational hazards, said that there was need to thank God for their lives while in the course of service to their fatherland.
