Infrastructure: Teacher Seeks RSG’s Intervention In Community School
A primary school teacher at Community Primary School, Ikem/Akwukabi in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr Nweke Chiabuotu, has decried the spate of infrastr-uctural decay at the school and called for urgent state government intervention.
Mr Chiabuotu, who made this appeal in an interview with The Tide at Ikem community over the weekend, disclosed that the entire school has no writing desks and tables.
According to him ,the absence of these key infrastructure in the school has become huge challenge to the teachers and pupils in the school.
“We don’t have any writing desks,the pupils are made to write on benches which they brought from their various homes,” he added.
He averred that the present condition has made teaching difficult, adding that many teachers posted to the school have rejected and sought transfer to other schools within the area
He expressed worry that if no urgent steps are taken to address the situation, parents may be forced to withdraw their wards from the school.
The English teacher used the opportunity to appeal to Governor Nyesom Wike to direct the relevant government authorities responsible for primary education in the state to swing into action to save the situation in the school.
