APC Screens Aspirants In Yenagoa
Ahead of the forthcoming governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bayelsa State, the gubernatorial apirants have been screened at the party secretariat in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
The aspirants include the former Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development and two time Senator of Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, oil magnet and Contractor, Mr. David Lyon, Hon. Preye Aganaba, Hon. Ebitimi Amgbare, former Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Diseye Nsirim-Poweigha, Professor (Mrs) Ongoebi Etebu, and Dr. Frankland Briyai.
The Chairman of the National Screening Committee, Hon. Isa Song, in a statement made available to newsmen said the committee will be transparent and fair to all aspirants irrespective of economic status.
He, therefore called on all aspirants to always be cooperative in order to have a smooth and swift exercise.
He said: “The National Chairman of our great party Comrade Adams Oshiomole, at the inauguration of this committe re-emphasized the cardinal objectives set at a much transparent exercise and as is the tradition of the party constitutionally, it must be held at the Secretariat of the party and must be fair as ever to all aspirants, and we are here.
“The committee of seven (7) have sat down to agree on the modalities to be used to all aspirants affording equal opportunities and therefore has no bias against any aspirants and by the Grace of God, we will exercise our mandate diligently and effectively with the fear of Almighty God”, he stated.
He further said the committee will analyse the data collected from aspirants and make their report based on the aspirants presentations, adding that the aspirants have demonstrated brotherliness and oneness, hoping that the party will be united during and after the party primaries scheduled for 29th August, 2019.
Earlier, the aspirants in an interview with journalists immediately after their screening, promised to be united and work as a team to ensure victory for the party in forthcoming gubernatorial polls come November 16th, 2019. They assured to accept any outcome in the cause of the party primary.
