60 Aleto Indigenes Benefit From Shell’s N6m Grant

A total number of 30 men and women from Aleto Community have been issued cheques of N100,000 each by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in its revolving loan scheme supervised and coordinated by Eleme Cluster Development Board.
Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Eleme, King Philip Obele, the Chairman, Eleme Cluster Development Board, Hon. Emmanuel Olaka commended the people of Aleto for their support and love for development, he enlightened the people that the N6million given by Shell now belongs to the community and as such, should be utilized with care.
He said those benefitting now are just the first phase of beneficiaries and pleaded with them to pay back according to the agreed time so that other members of the community will benefit in subsequent phases.
Responding, the King of Eleme, King Philip Obele, thanked Shell for the grant, he said it is a welcome development especially at this period of tough economic condition.
He, however, advised the beneficiaries to use the money wisely as according to him, “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
He further advised them to be diligent and avoid discrepancy in their dealings.
The monarch also urged Shell to do more for the people of Eleme considering their peaceful disposition.
