Crisis Looms In Osun As University, Muslim Community Clash
There is an imminent religious crisis in Osun State, as Ededimeji Muslim Community and Redeemer’s University are at loggerheads over parcels of land in Ede.
The Muslim community, at a press conference in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State yesterday, accused the faith-based university of allegedly encroaching 611 acres belonging to the community.
Mr Wasiu Abdul Azeez, who spoke on behalf of 18 families that make up the community warned against provoking religious crisis in the town.
He also accused the monarch of the town, Oba Muniru Adesola Lawal of connivance with the university, saying his claim that the native law and traditions of Edeland accorded him the right on any land is untrue.
He said: “Despite the incessant threats and intimidations from the hands of RCCG, we have remained persistently focused to pursue the case.
“Since April 2012, the Redeemer’s University management has continued to unleash terror on the innocent occupiers of the land who refused to be intimidated into submitting their lands.
