Polytechnic Plans More Events In Rector’s Cup

The management of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytenic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt, has pledged to include more events in the annual Rector’s Cup Competition.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Sam Kalagbor who said this at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Rector’s Cup Football Competition said that event such as volley ball and handball will be included in the subsequent editions of the competition.
Kalagbor said that the event was being organised by the institution to ensure the overall development of the students.
The Rector also said that he had directed the School Director of Sports to keep record of performances of the students in the competition.
He also described the standard of this year’s edition as very high, stressing that the institution will continue to improve on all editions of the competition.
The Rector also commended the officials and students for the level of maturity exhibited during the opening matches and stressed the need for it to be sustained.
Also speaking, the Director of Sports, Mr. Johnson Gospel Akafori said that winners of the competition will be rewarded with cash prizes and trophies.
He also said that the school will improve on the kitting of the teams in subsequent competitions.
Meanwhile, four matches were decided on Monday.
Seven teams are participating in the competition, they include, School of Business and Administrative Studies, School of Engineering, School of Financial Studies and Institute of Legal and Global Studies.
The rest are School of Science and Technology, School of Environmental Studies and School of Information and Communication sstudies.
