A popular pharmacist, Mathias Odo, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Okuku in Yala Local government area of Cross River State.

However, the combined efforts of the police and youths in the area brought about the successful rescue of the victim last Saturday.

An eyewitness, Alphonsus Ogar Eba said the victim was kidnapped on Saturday at about 7.15pm, adding that he alerted the Yala youths and the police who immediately conducted serious search in the area.

“Following this incident, the youth and the security joint operation were immediately activated to track down the perpetrators and to rescue the kidnapped victim.

“The youths went into the bush and on sighting the youths and security operatives; the kidnappers abandoned their victim and fled. We rescued him unhurt, it was a miracle, we thank God.

“This is part of the dividends of community policing. I urged our people to keep sharing information with the police and relevant agencies,” Eba said and appealed to the people to be vigilant and report to the appropriate authorities any suspicious person in their midst.
