Police Nab Notorious Car Snatcher, Dealer In Delta
The Delta State Police Command, says it has apprehended a notorious car snatcher.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who made this known in a statement issued yesterday in Warri, said the police also arrested a dealer of stolen vehicles.
Onovwakpoyeya gave the names of the suspects as Victor Nele, (robber) and Abraham Dafe as the buyer.
According to the police spokesman, the suspected robber snatched a Toyota Camry car from his victim at gunpoint on Aug. 9, 2018, at Ozoro junction in Delta State.
“On August 9, 2018, a Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. AG805LEH was snatched from its owner, Bright Ngbeken at Ozoro Junction, Oleh at gunpoint.
“On March 29, 2019, the police was tipped off that the vehicle was seen at a mechanic workshop in Abraka.
“Following the tip-off, a team of detectives led by Sgt. IkechukwuObuseh, under the Command of the Divisional Police Officer Oleh, CSP. Na’illahMo’d swung into action, apprehended the buyer, Abraham Dafe.
“Dafe led the detectives to the ring leader of the gang, Victor Nele, aged 33 who though denied being the actual robber but admitted he purchased two cars from a man called `General’, the PPRO said.
According to Onovwakpoyeya, the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner in the state, AdeyinkaAdeleke, has warned criminals to steer clear of the state, noting that there would be no hiding place for them to perpetrate their evil acts.
