Head Coach of Lagos State Para-athletics Association, Adegboyega Adenuga, says his team is adequately prepared for the forthcoming national trials in spite of perceived uncertainty surrounding the competition.
Tidesports source reports that the trials would hold in Enugu from April 10 to April 13.
Adenuga told yesterday in Lagos that his team was ready to do the state proud at the event having prepared adequately.
“We have been training our athletes for the competition, what next is finance.
“We are pleading with the state government to sponsor us to the competition in Enugu to enable us to qualify for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) qualifiers ahead of the Tokyo 2020.
“If we participate in the trials, we are confident of doing well because the athletes are in good shape, the zeal is there.”
According to the coach, the trials will be used to select athletes that will represent Nigeria at the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) qualifiers scheduled for Tunisia, Germany and France.
Tidesports source reports that the World Para-Athletics Grandprix in Tunis, Tunisia, is scheduled from June 28 to June 30.
Germany Grandprix is scheduled for Aug. 10 to Aug.11, while the France Grandprix is scheduled from August 29 to August 30.
