Member-elect for Akuku/Toru Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Opuende Lolo Isaiah has promised to initiate relevant bills aimed at tackling sea piracy and oil bunkering in his constituency
Lolo Isaiah said this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after he received his Certificate of Return (CoR) from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt.
While dedicating his victory in the last election to his teaming supporters, adding that he emerged victorious because the people of Oceania and the entire Akuku/Toru stood by him during the electioneering campaigns.
According to him: The journey was so rough because we had a lot of challenges in my constituency. That was the constituency that produced the AAC Governorship candidate who was my classmate.
“From the beginning of the Presidential election to the 9th of March it was not easy. But to the glory of God that the support of my people was immense and so I thank them to so much for the support,” Lolo Isaiah stated.
He expressed sadness at the violence and killings in some parts of the state, saying, “I also dedicate my victory to those who lost their lives in trying to defend their votes.”
He assured the people of Akuku-Toru and the oceania communities that he will ensure that laws are put in place to curb sea piracy, oil bunkering and militancy in the area.
“Despite all the challenges we have seen, we still have a lot ahead of us. We have the challenge of sea piracy in our waterways. Education, youth restiveness and last illegal oil bunkering.
“We must make laws that will put an end to that without hurting anyone. Those of them that will be affected we shall look for other means for them to survive,” the lawmaker-elect said.
