Church Celebrates Mothers’ Day With Funfare
Last Sunday, March 31st 2019 was an eventful day of spiritual bliss and divine manifestations at St. Lukes Anglican Church, Emohua Archdeaconry in the Diocese of Ikwerre, Rivers State as Christian faithful came out in their numbers to celebrate this year’s mothering Sunday with the theme. “The Qualities Of A Godly Mother In Our Homes”.
In a special sermon at the thanksgiving service, the guest preacher, Mrs. Mercyline Ojirika who quoted extensively from the Bible, extolled the good qualities of a Godly mother at home which include a help mate to the husband, she is faithful, submissive, tolerant patient and accommodating amongst others.
She urged Christian couples to help each other, love and comfort one another at all times and allow God to rule over their lives. She noted that Mothering Sunday is a special day set aside to honour and appreciated women and it is celebrate annually among Christians all over the world.
High point of the event was the presentation to the mother of the year 2019 award to Madam Sussana Kejeh II by the Archdeacon/Vicar of St. Lukes Anglican Church Emohua, Ven. Blessed N. Orji on behalf of the church.
Speaking shortly after the recognition and award ceremony, Madam Sussana Kejeh II expressed gratitude to God for chosen her among other women for the honour as she described the gesture as a divine honour to the glory of God.
She said. I see the award as a divine call for more dedication and selfless service to God and humanity. I enjoin other women in the church to work harder so as to be equally be recognised and rewarded”. According to her, the harvest is plenty, but the labourers are few.
In his vote of thanks, the eldest son of the awardee Prince Sampson Kejeh, thanked God for the honour and privilege. He assured that the Kejeh’s family would follow the good steps of the awardee in serving and worshipping God so as to sustain the good legacy set in both the church and society.
Other highlights of the event included blessing of marriage of six couples, singing and dancing, special thanksgiving by the women exchange of gifts and well wishes and other variety of shows.
