…As Rep Knocks Oshiomhole Over Comments On NASS Positions

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda has said that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole is ignorant of the workings of the legislature, following his comments on leadership positions in the ninth National Assembly.
Chinda, who is also the member-elect for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency stated that the winner-takes-home mentality is having a negative effect in the Nigeria’s political system.
The Tide recalls that Oshiomhole had, during a dinner hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari for elected APC lawmakers in Abuja recently, said lawmakers of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives would not be appointed as chairmen of committees in the next federal legislature.
But Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly said that Oshiomhole’s position on the function of the leadership of the ninth Assembly clearly shows that he lacks knowledge of how the parliament works.
Fielding questions from newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, the lawmaker said it was unfortunate that some political leaders were yet to come to terms with the tenets of democracy.
He advised the APC National Chairman to maintain a studied silence rather than displaying his ignorance in issues relating to parliament.
