Taekwondoist Hails Nigeria’s Participation In WTP
A professional Taekwondoist, Chika Chukwumerije, has said that Nigeria had successfully participated in the inaugural World Taekwondo Educator Certification Programme which held from March 9 to March 11, in South Korea.
Tidesports reports that Technical Director of the Nigerian Taekwondo Federation (NTF), Chika Chukwumerije, made the disclosure on Monday in Abakaliki.
Chukwumerije represented the country at the programme as the first Nigerian to do so.
Chukwumerije, an Olympic Bronze medalist in Taekwondo, told newsmen that he was specifically invited by the World Taekwondo Education Committee to be part of the pioneer programme.
“The objective of the programme is to develop a select number of world taekwondo educators to be sent to various regions of the world,’’
“Their duties will be educating and training taekwondo coaches participating in world taekwondo international events,” he said.
Chukwumerije, also the African Games gold medalist, said that he learnt a lot from the loaded courses and interactions with other participants who were global taekwondo superstars.
“The knowledge gained will impact positively on the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), especially in changing the curriculum for its intended coaching workshop in the six-geopolitical zones of the country.
“I will collaborate with the chairman of the NTF Technical and Development Committee to enhance the technical aspects of the coaching workshop,” he said.
He noted that the NTF would remain united and re-double its efforts to make the sport more reputable nationally and internationally.
