Security Men Protest Death Of Colleague
Some aggrieved security guards under the aegis of Indigenous Security Employees of Nigeria yesterday staged a protest at Agip facility O/B / OB in Obrikom in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Rivers State over the death of their colleague, Mr Precious Thomas who they claimed allegedly died over ill-treatment by his employer.
The security guards who are mainly indigenous security employees of the OB Land Area of operations claimed that the accident that led to the death of their colleague would have been averted if the company had provided means of transportation for guards.
The aggrieved security guards demanded immediate replacement slot of the deceased colleague, provision of the Melina, everest as well as luckgauard securities to compliment their efforts.
The guards equally protested for increased salary which they threatened could lead to shutdown of operations in the area, if their demands were not met.
Mr Nosike Obi who spoke on behalf of others said: “We are here to tell the world of our sorry state of affairs as security guards in this company.
“We are passing through so many challenges, as we work like elephant and eat like ant. Nothing to show because we are suffering for others. We have made different moves for the company to better our lot but all fell to deaf ears. We inhale a lot of nonsense, and that made many of us to be hospitalized. Our dead colleague is gone forever as tipper crushed him while coming to work.
“We are here to say enough is enough”.
When contact the Rivers State Command of the Police Public Relations offices, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the death and assured that the command was investigating the incident.
