RSUBEB Boss Tasks Parents On Sports Dev

The Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB), Dr. Fyneface Aka has tasked parents to encourage their children towards developing skills in sporting activities.
He noted that sport is for recreation in school geared towards discover-ing talents. 
Dr. Aka, who was represented by RSUBEB  Evaluator, Godfrey Ugbaja said this in his opening speech during the Sacred Heart School One and Two Inter-house Athletics School Competition at the St.Andrew Primary School Field, Mile One, Diobu, Port Harcourt, 
“Inter-house sport is the most important  part of sports in  schools especially at this stage of the children” Dr. said. 
Speaking, the chairman of the occasion, Eze Fineface Amadi, Paramount ruler of Rumukpalukwu-ozu ll of Rebisi, Abali, in Port Harcourt Local Government Area, said  inter-house sports in primary and secondary schools help to build the children’s mental health.
He also advised parents to engage their children in sporting activities, saying sports have a lot of benefits, apart from fostering peace and unity. 
Earlier in her welcome address the Head teacher of the school One, Mrs Joyce Aleraa said inter-house sports school competition is very important in the life of every child. 
According to her, all works and no play makes Jack a dull boy adding that the competition is for talent exhibition.
In her speech, the Head Teacher of School Two, Agbor Osademeh said, sport is an integral part of knowledge which helps in the development of the child’s health. “It develops all the body parts of the children and keep them healthier and stronger to face challenges of life.
She thanked the state government led by Chief Nyesom Wike and the state commissioner for education, Hon.  Tamunosisi Gogo -Jaja for making sports compulsory for primary schools, saying that, it will make way to catch them young in terms of sports. 
At the end of the competition, Red House emerged winner with 30 points; Green House came second with 29 while Blue and Yellow House, came third and fourth position with 26 and 25 points respectively.
