Rivers Muslims Hold Special Prayers For Wike’s Re-Election …Assure Massive Vote For Gov
The Muslim community in Rivers State will today hold special prayers for the overwhelming victory of the State Governor, Chief NyesomWike at the governorship and the state assembly elections scheduled to hold on Saturday.
The prayer session which would hold at the Borokiri axis of Port Harcout to climax a week long fasting for the re-election of Governor Wike and the recitation of the Quran, would also seek God’s intervention to ensure a peaceful conduct of the elections in the state.
The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Mustapha Jackrich who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the Muslim community took the decision to embark on the fasting and prayers for the electoral victory of Governor Wike because of the avalanche of the developmental achievements of the governor in his first term in office.
According to Alhaji Mustapha, Muslims resolved to back the re-election of Governor Wike “because he has provided peaceful environment for religious tolerance in Rivers State and Muslims have been enjoying the goodwill of the government and the people of Rivers State.
“Chief NyesomWike deserves our overwhelming support. For instance, since 2015 he assumed office as the Governor of Rivers State, he has sponsored 590 Muslim pilgrims to Mecca, taking care of all their expenses even when the Federal Government and other state could not sponsor pilgrims.
“Also, Governor Wikehas made it an annual ritual to reach out to every mosque in the State with cash gift to ensure successful Salah celebration to mark the end of our fasting and prayers. He has not denied the Muslims space in his appointments of persons into positions of authority in his administration,” he said.
He disclosed that Governor Wike has been friendly with Muslims in the state, adding that God would grant him victory in the midst of all oppositions. “We are very much in support of Wike for his good works and his support for the Muslim community in the State. He has done well and there is no way we will not support him in appreciation of his good works,” he said.
Alhaji Mustapha called on all Muslims in the State to turn out enmass and cast their votes for Governor Wike for his re-election adding “even with the command of Allah we are not opposed to his re-election.”
