Police Arrest Robbery, Cultism Suspects In Enugu
No fewer than fifteen suspects are now in police net in Enugu over their alleged involvement in conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, car stealing / snatching, kidnapping and cultism .
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the state police headquarters, Enugu, the newly posted commissioner of police for Enugu State, Suleman Balarabe, disclosed that three of the suspects were arrested by his men on February 15, this year about 2020 hrs through intelligence information in a tricycle arming themselves with dangerous weapons including two sharp punch iron, one hammer and charm.
Commissioner Balarabe disclosed that before the arrest of the suspects they were preparing themselves to launch attack on travelers along Enugu / Porthacourt Expressway, adding that the suspects robbed their victims on highway when the tyre of their victim’s vehicles ran on sharp object they set on the road which results on punctured tyres.
He further stated that when the tyres of their victims’ vehicle got punctured, in the process members of the gang will now emerge from their hiding place in the bush and start robbing their victims of their money and other valuables.
According to him, members of another armed robbery gang on 13th January 2019, at about 2245hrs, carried out armed robbery attack on No. 40 Old Nsukka Road, 9th Mile Corner, Ngwo and robbed one Victoria Alor, of undisclosed huge amount of money and later shot her to death.
Through intelligence report, he said, a member of the gang, one Emmanuel Achime was later arrested and during interogation confessed to the crime and mentioned other members of the gang who are still at large.
Similarly, he said on 13th February, 2019 about 1945hrs through the help of passersby along Railway Crossing Enugu one of the suspects was arrested, adding that before his arrest, himself and other members of his gang had already robbed one Oha Miracle of his belongings including two phones valued at N70,000.00 and the sum of N20,000.00 cash.
