Para-Athletics Federation To Hold National Trial In Enugu
The Para-athletics Federation of Nigeria (PFN) says it will organise a national trial in the South-East ahead of the World Championships in November.
Taiwo Kasunmu, the vice president of PFN told Tidesports in Lagos that the trial scheduled for Enugu would hold from April 10 to April 13.
He said that the trial would be used to select athletes to represent the country at the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) qualifiers scheduled for Tunisia, Germany and France.
“We are planning to go for qualifiers, so that some of our athletes will meet the standard set by IPC.The IPC qualifiers will make athletes qualify for the World Championships in Dubai.
“Those qualifiers, we need to attend depending on how soon the Ministry releases money to us.The qualifier for the World championships will end in September,” he said.
Tidesport source reports that the World Para Athletics Grandprix in Tunis, Tunisia is scheduled for June 28 to June 30.
Germany Grandprix is scheduled for Aug.10 to Aug.11 while the France Grandprix is scheduled for August 29 to August 30.
