Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has stated that leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State, Senator George Akume dared the might of Benue people and paid for it.
A statement by Terver Akase, said that the Governor spoke yesterday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi during an interview with newsmen.
He stated that Senator Akume who had boasted before the Presidential and National Assembly elections that he would use federal might to win the polls incurred the anger of Benue people who rejected him and his party, APC.
The Governor stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is aware of the power of the people’s votes would emerge victorious at the Governorship and State Assembly elections.
The Governor expressed disappointment with Senator Akume whom he noted, led other APC members and instead of staging a peaceful celebration of President Buhari’s victory, went on rampage, destroying billboards of PDP, raided shops and blocked major roads in Makurdi metropolis.
He called for examination of Senator Akume’s character, stressing that the former governor’s vow to destabilise the state during and after the elections would be resisted.
Ortom advised Benue youths who accompanied Senator Akume to destroy campaign materials of PDP to desist forthwith as their conduct was capable of truncating their future.
