inec Denies Alliance With Wike, Political Parties
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it has no alliance with Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike or any sort of pact with any political party or interest.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Rivers State, Obo Effanga stated this when he appeared as a guest on a live Radio programme monitored by The Tide in Port Harcourt, weekend.
This is as he debunked a certain report that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had written to him concerning his finances, describing it as a creation of the social media.
Effanga was reacting to a statement by a political party in the state, the African Action Congress (AAC) which accuse him of collaborating with Governor Wike with respect to the general elections in the state.
But Effanga dismissed the allegations and urged politicians to play by the rules of the game by canvassing for votes, rather than questioning the integrity of those saddled with the responsibility of conducting elections.
According to him: “There is no such thing and I have said this over and again that there is no such thing.
“Politicians should learn to participate in the election process and to win votes they should ask people to vote for them and they should not try at every time to want to impugn the integrity of persons whose duty it is to conduct elections.
“Nobody wins in making such assertions without proof. And I can assure you that there is no such alliance between the INEC or between myself as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) and any political interest,” The state REC said.
On certain report that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had written to him or invited him on issues relating to his finances, he said it is untrue, saying he only saw it on the social media.
