Hard Work ’ll Earn Us NPFL Trophy – Eguma

The Technical Manager of Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, Stanley Eguma has said that if his team maintains its current performance, it would become the champions of the group A in the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL).
He noted that the League is like a race if you keep working hard it can end in good result.
Eguma stated this when he was briefing Sports journalist on Wednesday, shortly after his side defeated Katsina United 1-0 in one of the rescheduled week eight matches of the NPFL, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, in Port Harcourt.
According to him, his players created many scoring chances but could not convert the chances, adding that scoring goal is one of the problems of his strikers.
“They have to keep working hard until the last whistle.
Today we have one of the best games. The players rise up to the game and it end us where we are” Eguma said.
The number one coach of the state commended his players over their impressive performance, saying that the most important thing was that they grab the maximum three points at stake.
“We could have scored more than five goals today but we could not convert our chances.
After I studied the pattern my opponents I discovered they were good in the midfield so I decided to change the position of one of my players and it end us the result” He stated.
As it stands Rivers United is currently sitting third on the log after eight matches, won three, draw four loss one with 13 points in NPFL.
Also speaking, the head Coach of Katsina United FC of Katsina State,Abdullah Biffo explained that loss against Rivers United did not mean they have lost out of the competition.
According to him , losing is part of the game adding that they have other matches to play and they will ensure to win those matches.
“The league is a marathon race in spite the lost against Rivers United today, we still have other matches to play,” Biffo said. He commended the Pride of the state for their performance against his team, adding that they played better today more than previous games.
“They were determined to win that is why they came out very strongly, you can see that when they lost the ball they recover fast.
The league is not about winning away but if only you can keep good record in your home and go away and get a point you be okay” he explained.
He said, they have not dropped any point at home saying that they fought very hard to get away because they will win at home.
In the match Rivers United Ossy Matin, who scored the only goal in the match through spot kick at the sixth minute, said he was very confident that he will convert the spot kick, adding that he wants to be among the top five goal scorers in the super six of NPFL.
