SDP Candidate Carpets INEC Over PVCs Collection
House of Assembly candidate under the Social Democratic Party (PDP) for Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency, Dandeson Peterside has picked holes in the ongoing voters card distribution exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the different local government areas.
Peterside in a chat with The Tide said the current tactics adopted by INEC would end up disenfranchising lots of electorates across the country.
“I believe that what INEC would have done is to distribute the PVCs through the wards where it would get to the owners quickly.
Besides, he argued that if INEC continues with this mode of voter’s card distribution, selfish politicians would hijack the process as he expressed fear that the agency’s staff may compromise the exercise.
Also, he challenged INEC to provide a level playing ground for all the parties, while maintaining that the SDP is a party to beat.
“I think the challenge is for INEC to provide a level playing grounds, and I can assure you that my party will fight hard to win some seats”, Peterside declared.
He intimated that he had already began a door-to-door campaign in Opobo/Nkoro as part of his quest to mobilise votes ahead of the elections in March.
Peteride assured of good governance and effective representation if voted to speak for the constituency in the upcoming elections.
