…As Commissioner Hails Wike Over Opportunities For Women
The Rivers State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Nancy Nwankwo, has applauded Governor Nyesom Wike for giving more opportunities for women in governance.
The Commissioner stated this recently during the PDP rally in Oyigbo Local Government Area.
Nwankwo said that the present administration led by Governor Wike gave women opportunities to serve as commissioners and Special Adversers than any other past administration in the state.
She also noted that the governor gave opportunities for women to serve as Deputy Governor and as Vice Chairmen in the 23 local government councils in the state.
Nwankwo also lauded Governor Wike for the interest-free loan scheme for the women in the state.
She said : ” It has never been this good for women in the political history of the state.
” Before this time, women were relegated to the background in the scheme of things but Governor Wike has by his wisdom proved that the role of a women is not only found in the kitchen and the other room.
” We appreciate Governor Wike for the woman friendly disposition of his leadership. I can tell you that women are contributing in governance today, more than ever before”.
The Commissioner explained that by initiating loan to traders in the state, the governor has waged war against poverty in view of the impact of the gesture to so many homes.
Commenting on the efforts of Governor Wike in the development of Oyigbo Local Government Area, the Commissioner said there was massive infrastructural transformation in the area.
She commended the governor for the road projects, appointment of sons and daughters of the area in positions of trust and for restoring peace in the area.
Nwankwo said that the massive turnout on the rally ground by the people of Oyigbo showed how happy the people were with Governor and assured that the governor would be voted for en masse during the governorship election on March 2nd.
The Commissioner also assured of victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other candidates of the party.
