Rumuekini, Joint Estate Resolve Land Dispute

The dispute over the ownership of a massive expanse of land behind the Omega Power Ministry (OPM), involving the Rumuekini community and the Joint Estate has been resolved.
The Joint Estate includes, the Gateway International Church, University of Port Harcourt Garden Services, the National Association of Resident Doctors, amongst others.
The resolution followed the handing over of the land to the Joint Estate by the Rumuari, Rumuweachor and 28 other families of Rumuekini at a ceremony in the area.
The representative of the 28 families, Mr Chukwu Maxwell , said that the ceremony has signaled the end of hostilities between the community and the Joint Estate owners.
Mr Maxwell, who assured of adequate security, also stressed the need for them to carry the community along in the development stages.
Also speaking, representatives, of Rumuweachor and Rumuari families, Prince Omakwele Ihunwo and Nathan Welekwu respectively commended the investors for showing high level of maturity during the period of the dispute.
They also urged them to carry the communitties along in all stages of development.
