NUJ, DAAR Communication Declare Wike Best Gov

The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has nominated the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the NUJ Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Leadership and Infrastructural Development.
National President of the NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo announced the nomination during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Port Harcourt last Monday.
Comrade Isiguzo said that the NUJ is impressed with the quality projects executed by Governor Wike across the state, despite the economic downturn in the country.
He said: “We arrived at the conclusion that you deserve this award after a painstaking selection process.
“We are impressed with the quality of work that you are doing because they are unique and significant.
He said that Governor Wike has also made appreciable inroads in the improvement of security across Rivers State, leading to enhanced investment.
“I must tell you without flatering you that you are outstanding.
“You have tackled the security challenges in the state in a way that we have seen sustained improvement. These efforts should be commended”, he said.
The NUJ President also commended Governor Wike for investing in the empowerment of the people of Rivers State.
Responding, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike said the NUJ award is special, noting that Rivers people appreciate the honour.
He said the award will be better appreciated if journalists play their roles as watchdogs of the station in these trying times
He said the media contributed in enthroning the failed APC Federal Government, hence they must work with other stakeholders to sack the dictatorial administration.
“This country is practicing democracy, but there appears a grand design to drag us into dictatorship.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has emerged as the first overall Daar Communication PLC “Governor of the year 2018”.
Prior to this award, there has never been a “Governor of the Year” award covering all sections.
Speaking during a courtesy visit at the Government House Port Harcourt last Monday, Executive Chairman of Daar Communications Plc., operators of African Independent Television, Raypower FM and Faaji FM, Mr. Raymond Dobpesi Jnr. said that Governor Wike was nominated because of his outstanding projects delivery.
He said that the achievements of Governor Wike has made it impossible to restrict him to a particular sector.
He said: “We are here to officially notify you of the decision of the Board of editors to confer on you the “overall” Daar Communications Governor of the year 2018.
“We arrived at this decision because of your outstanding projects delivery”.
Responding, Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike thanked Daar Communication for honouring the people of Rivers State with the award.
Governor Wike said his outstanding achievements were made possible due to the immense support and cooperation of Rivers people.
He said that the award will spur his administration to work towards further execution of more projects.
“This award will serve as an encouragement for this administration to sustain the delivery of more projects to the people of the state.
“We will not rest as it is our duty to continue to serve our people. We appreciate this recognition by Daar Communication Plc.”, he said.
