‘MFM FC Different From State-Owned Club’
The head coach of Mountain of Fire Ministry Football Club (MFM) of Lagos State, Fidelis Ikechukwu has said that, the structure of the General Overseer of the Club, Dr Daniel Olukuya is different from state-owned club.
He explained that the agenda of the club to position the youth and expose them nationally and international level in the game of football.
Ikechukwu stated this while briefing sports journalists last Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt shortly after his team was defeated 1-0 by Rivers United Football Club of Rivers State in the rescheduled match day three in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
According to him, all the players recruited in the club were purely from the grassroots, adding that he was happy with the agenda of the club.
“We didn’t buy palyer and paid money like state own club rather we recruit from the grossroots.
We cannot change the agenda of the club. We are happy with the system,” Ikechukwu stated.
He further explained that, the understanding of the agenda of the club between the owner and the technical crew is 50-50, adding that he as a coach need result.
“When you are working with a man of God, you have to be very very careful.
I did not want to work where you will be given team list during football matches by club owners.
I am very happy working with him because he is a true man of God,” the head coach explained.
He expressed happiness, that he was controlling the team as a coach.
MFM FC has played three matches this season, winning two and lost one against the pride of Rivers State, Rivers United.
