A Port Harcourt- based advocacy group; Advocacy for Peace, Good Governance and Social Justice, has warned political parties in Nigeria to respect the rule of law in their dealings with one another.
The President of the group, Mr John Clement, who stated this while speaking with journalists on recent happenings in the country expressed regrets that politicians were scheming using devious means to score cheap political points.
Mr Clement remarked that most politicians across the nation did shady deals in order to get into power or hold unto power.
He pointed out that as long as miscreants continued to get into power either by hook or crook, the country would be raped.
He described the nation’s economy as one of the worst in the Sub Salaran Africa in spite of the huge economic resources the nation was endowed with.
According to him, “Nigerian masses are suffering in the midst of plenty, while a tiny segment of the country’s population is affluent.
He noted that unless something was done to stem the tide, the youths of this nation would face dire consequences of the actions of their ancestors and the present generation.
“We do not have another Nigeria People should stop asking what the country is doing for them but should be proud of what they are doing for our nation”, he stated.
