Among the common skin diseases in this part of the world, eczema is most prominent. Though it does not pain, it is however characterised by itching, a little yellow patch that continues to spread if not treated early.
Medically, eczema is described as a form of dermatitis, an inflammatory skin disease. In most parts of Africa where archaic beliefs hold sway, some people believe it is caused by the bite of a cockroach or a tick.
This kind of unsubstantiated belief not only makes eczema difficult to treat, it also becomes a menace that has to be lived with. Unfortunately, the site of eczema on the body is not only irritating, but is capable to ostracise one from an informed circle.

Pregnant women are prone to eczema, and it’s common among new mothers. It manifests in form of skin outbreaks or sometimes caused by faulty fat metabolism.
Those exposed to stress can develop eczema; since it’s quite possible to become more sensitive to certain foods that previously can ignite reaction.
Experts warn that one should be alert to the use of some synthetic substances that can trigger skin reactions such as soaps, detergents, paints, cements and other building materials.
The question is: What are the natural ways to tackle eczema? First, cutting out nasty or excess sweet foods is important.
It has been discovered that monitoring what one eats is one sure way of eliminating eczema. One is encouraged to consume more of healthy fats such as evening primrose oil, flax seed oil is also recommended.
For instance, if one can get flax oil capsules, it can help. Sulfur containing creams are also effective if rubbed on the body, especially after bath in the night.
The topical application of Vitamin E and Evening Primrose oil relieves irritation nd promotes the healing process.
Nutritional supplements are also effective. Some of the supplements include: Vitamin B complex, Vitamin E, Zinc plus other essential fatty acids such as flax, borage or evening primrose oil.
