Badminton Coach Vows To Stop Poaching
The Assistant Coach of Badminton in Rivers State, Mie-iyene Oneneyi says it is over for buying of players to represent the state in competition.
She explained that, the Badminton association has lined up a lot of programmes for the development of the game in State.
Oneneyi stated this in an exculsive interview with Tidesports yesterday shortly after a training session at Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Complex, Badminton Court, Moscow Road Port Harcourt.
According to her,it is no more business as usual for hiring of players from outside the state to represent the state in tournament.
“2019 is a different ball game in the Badminton association in the state.
We are going to different Primary Schools to pick the interested one, to groom them up to professional level in the game”,Oneneyi stated.
She explained that, there’s nothing wrong being defeated in a tournament if you are grooming young players, and noted that it is a learning process.
She commended the Chairman of Badminton Association in the state, Musa Doma for carrying every member of the association along.
The Assistant Coach reviewed that Catching Them Young, is the plan of the new coaching crew of the association.
