Team Rivers’ Performance Excites Perm Sec

Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Sports, Pastor James Enebeli, has said that he was amazed with the impressive performance of Team Rivers athletes, at the on-going 19th National Sports Festival holding in Abuja.
He stated that for an athlete to perform better in competitions was not all about money, but commitment and determination.
Pastor Enebeli said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, on Tuesday, in Abuja, saying that with determination Team Rivers will win the festival.
“ Honestly am amazed that Team Rivers is currently occupying the second position on the medal table given the circumstances the Team find herself.
“ Our hope is to win the festival, that is the prayer of every good team,” Pastor Enebeli said.
As it stands Team Rivers is sitting  second position on the medal table with 22 gold, 21 silver and 28 bronze medals, while Delta occupies the first position with 26 gold, 22 silver and 29 bronze medals. This was the medal table published as at 6.00pm Tuesday.
Reacting on the issue of unpaid allowances to athletes and officials, he said it was not a deliberate act,  there were unforeseen circumstances that occurred, but assured that as soon as they got back to base everything will be sorted out, adding that government is well able to take care of that.
“ Well, as soon as we get to back I believe that will be sorted out, you know at times unforeseen circumstances may occur, but I know government is well able to take care”, he stated.
