Following the sterling performances of the member representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Awajinombek Abiante in the last four years, some stakeholders in the Federal constituency are urging for his re-election.
A cross section of stakeholders who spoke at a recent event in the area said that Abiante has performed beyond expectation, stressing that returning him to the House will enable him to improve upon what he has done.
They listed some of his achievements to include the construction of water projects at Oyorokoto and Akaradi, empowerment of thousands of indigenes of the constituency, the construction of ICT centres at Ngo and Opobo town respectively, donation of books to some secondary schools in the area and the on-going linking of the area to the national grid.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the area, Senator Adawari Mac-Pepple said at a function in Opobo town that there is no substitute for Hon. Abiante. Senator Mac-Pepple said that it was the first time that a lawmaker will be attracting tremendous development to the Federal Constituency within a short time.
According to him, returning the lawmaker to the National Assembly will enable him bring more dividends of democracy to the federal constituency. He particularly commended him for the provision of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) centres at Opobo town.
Also speaking, the PDP chairman in Ward I, Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Egele Joel said that replacing the lawmaker with another person during the election will be disastrous for the federal constituency.
He said that apart from infrastructural facilities, the lawmaker has raised the bar in sports development as some indigenes of the area are now playing in the national league.
