The Eze Igbu Akoh II of Akoh Kingdom in the Ahoada East Local Government Area, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi has instituted annual undergraduate scholarship programme for indigenes of the 14 communities in the kingdom.
Eze Ikegbidi, who at his one year coronation anniversary at Chugbogo said that every year, one student from each of the 14 communities will benefit from the programme.
He said that the scheme which will be funded from his own share of the five percent allocation to traditional rulers in the area, will spread educational opportunities across the 14 communities.
The Akoh Monarch also promised to reach out to those who are still aggrieved over his coronation, stressing that time has come for them to sheathe their swords and join hands with him to move the kingdom foreward.
Ikegbidi also told the Akoh Council of Traditional Rulers to forgive and admit any dissident chief who is willing to be reconciled and advised youths in the area to toe the line of peace, especially during the forthcoming general elections.
The monarch also used the occasion to endorse Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and all the candidates of the peoples Democratic party (PDP) for the forth coming general elections.
Also speaking, the chairman of the Akoh council of traditional rulers, Chief Justice Moses, said that those who predicted death for chiefs who endorsed Eze Ikegbidi have been put to shame. Chief Moses however said that the council will welcome any dissident chief who was willing to return to its fold.
