Lawyer Wants More Security On Elele-Omoku Road
A Port Harcourt-based lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Chijioke Agi, has called on security agencies to beef up security along Elele- Omoku road to check the spate of kidnapping and robbery in that area.
Mr. Agi who stated this while chatting with the newsmen in Port Harcourt at weekend called on soldiers to comb the bushes around the area to fish out criminals that unleash terror on road users.
He expressed regrets that security agencies were not doing enough to check the trend of kidnapping, armed robbery and murder on the road.
Mr. Agi called on the public to alert security agencies on suspicious movements on the road to help them check the ugly trend.
He stated that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the road was free.
In a related development, the Chairman of Egbeda Conflict Resolution and Project Committee, Comrade Chibuzor Ogbuji has described the activities of criminals along Elele-Omoku Road as gruesome.
Comrade Ogbuji, who made condemnation while speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt on Monday, remarked that indigenes that live along that axis found it difficult to go home.
He blamed cultists far the plethora of criminal acts that are perpetrated on the road.
Mr. Ogbuji called on media houses to assist in warning commuters of the dangers that lurk on the road so that the criminals would be aware that their time would soon be up.
He said concerted efforts by all would help alleviate the pains of commuters.
The Chairman urged both Federal and State Governments to come to their rescue.
