Group Preaches Peace Ahead 2019 Polls

A Civil Society Group, the Junior Chamber International (JCI), has called on Nigerians to embrace peace during and after the 2019 polls.
The newly inducted President of JCI, Eko chapter, Mr Gafar Odubote, made the call in an interview with newsmen yesterday on Thursday in Lagos.
Odubote said that the group would soon launch the #VoteRight4Peace Campaign, aimed at sensitizing Nigerians on the forthcoming elections.
“In 2019, Nigeria will be observing its election which comes with some risks, like violence and non-participation of the citizenry in the exercise.
“JCI Eko is starting the year with #VoteRight4Peace Campaign – a campaign for a free, fair and peaceful 2019 elections in Nigeria.
“The campaign will be launched with some key stakeholders in attendance during the group’s General Assembly (GA) on Jan. 6, 2019.
“We want to let people know that they should go and vote and while voting they should embrace peace during the exercise.
“We want to reach out to people in the local communities, so that they will not be used as instrument of violence during the polls,” Odubote told The Tide source
He said that the New Year’s message of the team is, “Unite to Act”.
“Unite to Act” theme is a call to action for people to stay united and act for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, sustainable environment, justice, human capital development, equality and good governance.
