You’re Safe, RSG Assures Residents …Urges Rivers People To Resist Violence Tag …As Wike Promises Project Delivery
The Rivers State Government has assured residents of the state that it will continue to do everything within its powers to secure lives and peoperty in the state and urged indigenes and residents of the state to resist the tag of violence which enemies of the people are working hard to hang on the State for political reasons.
This assurance is contained in a press statement issued yesterday by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Emma Okah in reaction to the recent claim of the APC that Rivers State is unsafe.
Okah said, “Rivers State is safe and the people are peaceful and love one another. Since 2015, they have been working together with the government of the State to improve upon their living standards.
“If the state were not safe, night life would have died, contractors would not be able to execute projects, national and international conferences would not hold in the State, investment inflow would not increase, IGR would decline, those who are branding the state as unsafe would not be able to visit and move about and life would be sour and brutish in the state” Okah said, noting that the successes of the Nyesom Ezenwo Wike administration have become a burden for the APC as they have nothing to show the people of the state since 2015.
“It is therefore shameful for some misguided APC members in the State to take it upon themselves to de-market the State by branding it as unsafe and promoting hostility against the government and people of the state to achieve narrow and dubious ends.
“I believe only God gives power to His chosen one and no matter how hard the APC tries in the state to discredit the achievements of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the prayers of the churches and the people will bring them to their knees”, the statement added.
On the purported attempted attack on the Tonye Cole campaign train in old Bakana, Okah said “It is satanic that the APC will hire thugs to shoot at and wound innocent people holding a PDP meeting in Ikwerre Local Government Area and turn around a few days later to stage manage an attempted attack on one of its own as a way of diverting attention and escaping public condemnation. Such narratives no longer impress anybody”
“Since the APC controls the police and security agencies, how come they have not been able to arrest and prosecute any PDP member on account of any alleged violent crime against the APC”, Okah querried, urging PDP faithful to remain law abiding and steadfast and deny APC of the provocation they plan against the PDP.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he will continue executing key projects across the state, despite the forthcoming elections.
Speaking after projects inspection last Friday, Governor Wike said that he will campaign on the strength of his projects and his recognised ability to deliver.
The governor inspected ongoing construction of the Judges Quarters, the Mile One Market and the Fruit Garden Market.
He said: “Like I said, when I promise something, I fulfill it. For us, that is the hallmark of good governance. The people have confidence in us
”They know if we can do this in our first term, then we can do more in our second term”.
The governor expressed happiness that youths working at the project sites appreciate his administration’s schemes to empower them through projects delivery.
He said: “So many of these companies employ thousands of our youths at their project sites. You can see the number of youths working here.
”We will continue to fund projects with a view to creating employment opportunities for our youths. We have no other thing to do than to offer our people projects”
At the Judges Quarters, the buildings for the judges are nearing completion. The contractors have completed the roofing of majority of the buildings, while internal drainage is under construction. Workers at the site sang the praises of Governor Wike which has reached over 80 percent completion stage. Governor Wike inspected the Mile One Market project amid cheers from site workers.
Governor Wike was at the Fruit Garden Market where the contractors were seen working at the site.
