WAUG: Badminton Coach Attributes Win To Adequate Preparation
The Head coach of Badminton, University of Illorin (UNILORIN) Kwara State, Suleiman Tajideeh has attributed their semi-final win, in the ongoing West African University Games (WAUG) to intensive training.
He explained that they have been training for the past two years, in preparation for the game, adding that the training has not been easy, because the team is a school team and all the players are students and their primary aim is to study.
Tajideeh stated this yesterday when briefing sports journalists, shortly after his team defeated University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) 2-1 in the semifinal of the female double, at the Badminton Court Sports Village, UNIPORT, Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The head coach commended his players for making him proud in the WAUG, adding that they would still train hard to ensure they came out victorious in the final game of the competition.
“It is a school team, the primary aim is to study books.
“I am proud of my players, they will win Gold medal in the competition”, Tajideeh explained.
Also speaking, one of the University of Illorin (UNIILORIN) players Alabi Damilola, commended his coach, Suleiman Tajideeh for giving them hard training before the WAUG tournament adding that the competition has given them more experience in the game.
Ealier, one of the players of UNIPORT who lost out in the semifinal of the game Robert Edidiong blamed her coach for shouting on them during the game.
According to her, she felt very bad for not playing in the final of competition adding that the preparation for the tournament was okay.
