Stop Sponsoring Cultism, Monarch Tells Politicians
Ahead of the 2019 general election in the country, a front line monarch in the state, His Royal Majesty, Eze Worlu Wodo, Eze Oha Apara Kingdom has urged politicians in the state to stop sponsoring cultism and other anti-social activities across the communities.
The traditional ruler who also blamed the act of insecurity in the country to the inability of the Federal Government to police the nooks and crannies of the country , called for adequate deployment of security agents to the hinterlands to ensure safety of lives and property.
Eze Worlu Wodo who spoke to The Tide on Tuesday at his palace located in Rumuigbo, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, said some traditional rulers in the state no longer live in their communities due to cult-related activities.
The First Class monarch who decried the state of insecurity in some Emohua communities, said the security of any state is the sole responsibility of the Federal Government and not the state alone and called for adequate policing of communities in the state for a hitch -free and fair 2019 elections in the state.
The Ikwerre monarch called on the Nigerian Army to sensitize the rural populace on the need for peace and co- existence in the society, even as he advised the youths to refrained from acts of criminality and destruction.
He also urged the youths to desist from carrying guns during the elections, thereby creating unhealthy communal living in the society.
Describing the youths as leaders and future of tomorrow, Eze Wodo appealled to them always embrace positive living and shun acts capable of destroying the nascent democracy and their future.
On the political class, the traditional rulers called on them to play the game of politics by the rules, instead of engaging the youths to cause mayharm in the society, thereby making the state ungovernable
The youths, Eze Wodo said should prepare themselves for the leadership position of the country, than to be used by the political class as instruments of electoral violence and societal destruction.
The youths, he said have a bright future of leading this country and appealle to them not to jespardise their lives for politicians for today’s gains.
