Stakeholders Want Police To Prosecute Corrupt Officers

Some residents in Port Harcourt have called on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to set up a monitoring team to check policemen that extort money from drivers in the state.
The representative of the residents, Mr Simeon Kiisi, stated this during an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
One of the residents said it was criminal for police officers to collect money from motorists for no just cause and called on the police authorities to sanction any officer found committing such offence.
He also appealed to drivers to always use their seat belt while driving to reduce accident and save lives and advised motorists to have the necessary documents such as particulars before driving on road to avoid arrest and prosecution.
Kiisi urged motorists to be law-abiding and respect the constituted authorities, even as he advised them to always obey traffic rules and regulations.
He cautioned commercial drivers to desist from over speeding saying that over speeding, kills and destroys lives and property, while urging them to paint their vehicle in the state colour of blue and white as such would enhance their business.
