Sequel to the wave of crime in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Police Command has entered with partnership with Community Development Committee (CDC) leaders to apprehend gang of cultists, rapists and hoodlums involved in the use of illicit drugs in the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Asinim Bustwat made available to journalists in Yenagoa.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan urged the community development committee leaders, youth presidents and vigilante group heads to always work in tandem with the police command to fish out criminal elements from the state.
Mukan regretted the spate of cultism and armed robbery in Yenagoa metropolis and the havoc they had wrecked in the communities.
According to the commissioner, the community stakeholders identified cultism, armed robbery and rape as the serious crimes affecting their environs and assured the Police of their readiness to partner and assist the command in fighting crime.
The Commissioner of Police assured the youths that information shared with the police will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Mukan pointed out that dark spots where criminals usually ply their trade would be raided, illicit drugs joints and other criminal hideouts would also be visited by a crack team of riot police formation to ensure the state is at peace and conducive for the citizenry to go about their normal business without fear of being molested or robbed.
He, however, commended all security stakeholders for their resilience and commitment to fighting crime, as the Police is poised to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
