As part of efforts to em-power youths with skills and make them employable, the Rivers State Government has disclosed plans to begin a special entrepreneurial training for 200 level students in tertiary institutions across the state.
The State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, Dr Leloonu Nwububasa disclosed this at the grand finale and award ceremony of the Khana Students Holiday Summit in Khana Local Government Area.
Nwububasa also said the training will equip job seekers to become job creators, as the state government plans to establish a fashion village that will take care of those who acquire the entrepreneurship training.
The Commissioner said the training will be in such a way that the students would have acquired a skill by the time they will be completing their programme in their various institutions and ready to fill manpower needs in the state and society at large.
He said, “One of the visions of the Ministry of Employment Generation is that we want to start an entrepreneurship training in all higher institutions in Rivers State.
”We want to use your (students’) holiday from second year so that apart from your field of study, you would have acquired a skill by the time you are graduating”.
