NSCDC Boss Tasks Private Guards On Intelligence

The Rivers State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Mohammed Haruna has charged private security operatives in the State on the need to pay more attention to intelligence report and information gathering.
Haruna stated this at the passing out parade of the 194 Private Gaurds of Company personnel by NSCDC, last weekend in Port-Harcourt.
He was of the view that security job was beyond carrying of arms and ammunitions, but paying more attention to the issues of intelligence and credible information.
The State NSCDC Chief, maintained that that would be the best approach to tackle security challenges in the Country.
He also called on the trained Security operatives by the Command, not to toy with decipline as it was an important factor in the business of policing.
The Civil Defence boss, further charged the newly trained Private Security Personnel not to view their job as demeaning or poor, and hinted that most present directors in the system started in a similar way.
According to him, security was one of the most lucrative jobs across the globe, but said that proper utilisation of the opportunity was key.
To encourage them the more, he hinted that in the next half decade, most people would hunt for Private Security jobs, as he called on them to put in their best in the job,so as to move the profession forward.
On the issue of unregistered/untrained private security outfits, he called on the 194 trainees to fish out such outfits and report same to the appropriate quarters for adequate action.
He stressed that with proper information and report, Nigeria would be a safe haven for all kinds of operations.
The Chairman of Association of Licensed Private Security Practioners of Nigeria(ALPSPN). Rev. Mark Abere who also spoke at the event, threatened to withdraw the certificate issued to them, should any be found wanting.
Mark, who admonished the trained Guards on the benefit of security, reassured them of positive hope in the future, and added that security had greater heights in the society.
TheTide gathered that the two-week training programme for private security operators was put together by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps as part of its mandates.
