Ex-Militants Urge Buhari To Sack Dokubo

Aggrieved Coalition of Ex-Militants, who had long surrendered their arms and embrace the Federal Government’s amnesty, staged a protest on the East-West Road to press home their demand for removal of Prof. Charles dokubo as the coordinator of the Prisidential Amnesty Pogramme (PAP)
The demand for the sack of Dokubo, according to the repentant militants was as a result of the alleged massive fraud under his leadership, resulting in their neglect and denial of what should accrue to them from the amnesty office.
A leader of the Third Phase Militia Group, Comrade John Ebi told newsmen that the blocked at the Mbiama axis of the East-West Road at 6am was necessitated by the need to press home their demand.
Chanting was songs, the repented militants were armed with placards that read: Dokubo racketeering contract”, among cronies.
The protest, it was learnt, created heavy gridlock on the East-West Road, but soon there was slow vehicular movement owing to the presence of combined security operatives, comprising the a JTF and riot policemen.
The coalition regretted that though they had submitted their arms but the Dokubo-led amnesty office was yet to recognise them, as their stipends were yet to be paid, as well as other benefits that should accrue to them such as training and other empowerment programmes.
According to Ebi, “ We are angry because some of us are indebted to the turn of more than N5 million, and without the government we managed to stay alive, unlike others we are peaceful, but we cannot continue in this manner, hence are calling on the Federal Government to swiftly redress our plight and also sack Dokubo and his cronies that are frustrating the PAP and also denying us our entitlement.
He told the security operatives that they would not back out of their inalienable right of been paid their monthly stipends and other benefits from the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
Ebi submitted that they would continue to keep the peace, but the amnesty office must respond swiftly to their demand in order not to allow things get out of hands
“We will not truncate the peace of the region, but in a symbiotic manner, we want the federal Government to prevail on the amnesty office to pay their stipends and the backlog arrears owed.
“Though the Bhuari-led government is committed to PAP but way and manner Dokubo and his cronies are administering the programme has created bad image for the government, therefore, if the government must salvage their image then it must yield to our demand that Dokubo must be sack out of office.
